Steering Committee Members
The Wills for Heroes Steering Committee guides the program to its continued success. They volunteer their time not only in its strategic planning but to coordinating events, recruiting other volunteers and training others. We thank them for their dedication to helping Arizona's first responders.
Abbot Downing
Denise E. McClain, J.D., CPA: Denise McClain is a Financial Principal at Abbot Downing (a company providing comprehensive services to ultra-high-net-worth clients) where she utilizes her estate planning experience to assist her client families in developing and implementing their wealth transfer plans and makes recommendations to them about estate and income tax saving strategies. Prior to joining Abbot Downing, Denise was an attorney at Quarles & Brady LLP where she focused on the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, guardianships/conservatorships, pre-marital agreements, business and corporate transactions, as well as taxation.
Denise obtained a juris doctorate from the Arizona State University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy (magna cum laude) from Arizona State University. She is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
Denise is married to Tom McClain and has two daughters, Macy and Shannon. In her “spare” time, Denise enjoys volunteering her time with charitable organizations including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Ballet Arizona, and Tempe Community Action Agency, in addition to taking too many pictures of her girls at their many sports and music activities. As an Arizona native, Denise is especially pleased to provide estate planning assistance to the men and women who protect our Arizona cities through the Wills for Heroes program.
